BD-HP20
Features Specifications

FULL HIGH-DEF 1080p OUTPUT AT 24Hz
1080p is the highest-quality video mode on the market. The BD-HP20 decodes a Blu-ray Disc’s signal in native 1080p, for a full high-definition image and the most precise and realistic visual experience imaginable. Standard DVD resolution, Blu-ray Disc at 1080pYour existing DVDs, meanwhile, will receive a quality boost when upconverted to 1080p (via HDMI). Along with this superb resolution, the BD-H20 can output video signals at 24 Hz (via HDMI). Matching the standard frame rate used for cinema content, this enables movement in video images to be reproduced more smoothly.
HIGH-DEFINITION SOUND
The high capacity of the Blu-ray Disc format doesn’t just translate into superior video images. It also translates into superior sound reproduction. Naturally, the BD-HP20 offers compatibility with the two major surround sound formats, DTS® and Dolby® Digital Plus. These each create an immersive and engaging sound stage for your home entertainment. Even better, the BD-HP20 handles the next-generation lossless audio codec, Dolby® TrueHD (lossless, 48 kHz only). With TrueHD, multichannel audio can be delivered in pristine detail, capturing all the nuances of the original recording session.
QUICK START*1
When you’ve just brought home a new movie to watch, there’s nothing more frustrating than a player that takes forever to start up. Thankfully, the BD-HP20 is quick off the mark. Starting up from standby mode in around 10 seconds*2, it lets you and your audience begin enjoying your entertainment sooner.
*1 Fastest start-up from standby in its class (based on Sharp research, August 2007).
*2 When starting up with previously played disc already inserted and with Quick Start mode on. Start-up time may vary due to the content and condition of the disc.
MULTI-FORMAT PLAYBILITY*
Playing Blu-ray Discs in all their high-definition glory comes naturally to the BD-HP20, but that’s not all it can do. It’ll also get the very best out of your existing DVDs—even upscaling them to 1080p via HDMI—and play back your audio CDs.
* Plays BD, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD, CD-R/RW
AQUOS LINK
The BD-HP20’s compatibility with AQUOS LINK means you can control it using the remote controller from your AQUOS LCD TV*. When it’s time to play a disk, the input switches automatically to the player. The BD-HP20’s integration with AQUOS LCD TVs also simplifies any customer support issues.
* Some AQUOS Link-compatible AQUOS models and Blu-ray Disc players may not be available in certain areas. Please check with your local Sharp dealer and subsidiary.
