Photovoltaic Power System

See-through photovoltaic modules have been installed on the walls of the Kameyama Plant. Reflecting the design of AQUOS which is representative of Sharp's energy-saving products the photovoltaic modules symbolize the integration of creating energy and saving energy.

The photovoltaic power system is indispensable as a next-generation energy source, as it is free from resource limitations and places less of a burden on the environment. Sharp, with more than 40 years of history and achievements in this field, has ranked No. 1 in solar cell production volume for seven straight years*1. Sharp believes that Sharp itself should set an example by creating energy with a photovoltaic power system. For this reason, a photovoltaic system, which can generate 5,210 kW of electricity—enough to power approximately 1,300 homes*2— was installed at the Kameyama Plant.

From 2000 to 2006, according to the March 2007 issue of PV News

*2

Based on the estimated amount of power generated by a typical residential photovoltaic power system of 4 kW (5,210 kW ÷ 4 kW = approx. 1,300 homes).

Photovoltaic Power System- the Largest of its Kind in the World*3: Sharp installed a photovoltaic power system the largest of its kind in the world.*3
Thin-Film, See-Through Photovoltaic Modules: A “solar window” can generate electricity and let light shine through at the same time.
