Sharp was originally founded as a metalworking shop by Tokuji Hayakawa in 1912. In 1935, it was incorporated as Hayakawa Metal Works Institute Co. with capital assets 300,000 yen at that time. In 1970, the Company was renamed Sharp Corporation.

Q12 I would like to know about Sharp's takeover defense plan.
By approval of the shareholders at the 113th Ordinary General Meeting of Shareholders held on June 22, 2007, Sharp introduced the "Plan Regarding Large-Scale Purchases of Sharp Corporation Shares (Takeover Defense Plan)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Plan"), the effective term of which ends at the conclusion of the 114th Ordinary General Meeting of Shareholders. Since its introduction, the continuation of the Plan after amendment thereto (hereinafter referred to as the "Revised Plan") was approved by shareholders at the 114th Ordinary General Meeting of Shareholders held on June 24, 2008.

We issued the 20th unsecured convertible bond with attached warrants and raised 200 billion yen on October 17, 2006. The proceeds will be allocated primarily to capital investments for LCD-related business.
