Sharp Forest Care and Appreciation Day at Konoyama

Participants in the Sharp Forest

On April 19, Sharp employees and their families, along with former Sharp members, took part in the 2008 Spring Konoyama Foresting Project in the Sharp Forest at Konoyama in Osaka Prefecture, Japan. The 1,800 seedlings planted in April 2006 have grown to as high as 4 meters thanks to regular care by 'Green Supporters' and other Sharp employees.

In the morning, while on a guided tour of the Sharp Forest, some participants removed the supports from trees that had taken root and could stand on their own, while others built a Sharp Forest sign using the same plant-based paint used for the AQUOS stand. There were also craft-making lessons, a bamboo ring toss game, and tree-climbing, activities that pleased both children and adults alike. The afternoon was spent gathering nature's bounty, as participants dug up edible bamboo shoots and picked wild vegetables. All in all, it was a day for everyone to enjoy everything the forest has to offer.
