Sharp Electronica España S.A. (a manufacturing and sales company in Spain) held an eco-driving course for 25 employees on January 29th and February 1st.
This course is being promoted by ICAEN (Catalonia Energy Institute) and the Government of Catalonia, in order to spread eco-driving, which is effective for not only reducing greenhouse gas emissions, but also preventing traffic accidents and saving on fuel costs.
First, all participants went through a driving habit test to find out their own personal driving habits. After the test, a trainer gave them advice to consider, and they drove the same route again to see their improvement.
A fuel consumption meter equipped in each test car enables comparison of fuel consumption before and after training. It showed the participants were able to reduce their fuel consumption by an average of 22% through the course.
