1?Earth Day Tree Planting (SEC, US)

SEC employees planting a flowering dogwood tree Each year in April, SEC commemorates Earth Day with a tree-planting event.
In April 2006, at the 11th such event, two employees who had been recipients of an environmental award from the company for their noteworthy involvement in environmental activities during the previous year, planted a flowering dogwood tree.




2?Participation in Campaign to Eradicate Breast Cancer (SEC/SLA, US)

SEC employees who participated in the campaign In October 2006, employees of SEC and SLA participated for the 10th time in the annual Lee National Denim Day, one of the largest single-day fund-raising events to support the fight against breast cancer in the United States.
This event takes place every October, and last year, the day fell on a Friday. Employees wore denim to work at the office for Casual Friday and each contributed five dollars to the campaign.



3?Supporting the Asthma Society of Canada (SECL, Canada)

SECL executives presenting donated products to officials of the Asthma Society of Canada Since 2004, SECL has been donating to the Asthma Society of Canada as one of its community action programs.
This organization was established in 1974 as a nationwide charity to provide information and education related to asthma, to enable patients, whose numbers are increasing in Canada, enjoy fuller lives.
In November 2006, the Asthma Society was the recipient of monetary contributions raised through Jeans Fridays* as well as a donation of 140 air purifiers from SECL.

* An activity in which wearing jeans to the office is permitted every Friday. Each employee wearing jeans donates CDN$2 to charity.



4) Recipient of Second Investors in Education Award in Support of Local Educational Activities (SLE, UK)

Students listening to a presentation on technology developments at SLE In January 2007, SLE received an Investors in Education Award for the second time from a local government organization in recognition of the company's efforts in support of education in Oxfordshire. SLE also won this award in 2005.
For the past three years, SLE has invited students 14 to 16 years of age from local schools to the company, providing them with the opportunity to study the latest science and technology through lectures from researchers and demonstrations of technologies used in Sharp products.



5?Keeping a Green Mind for Regional Cleanup Activities (SKC, South Korea)

SKC employees who participated in the cleanup campaign SKC is fostering activities that contribute to the local community with a green mind.
Under the slogan, "Let's clean up the environment," once a month SKC decides on an area in the vicinity of the company premises and initiates a roadside cleanup campaign. SKC also participates in monthly cleanup activities within the industrial park where it is located, in cooperation with 50 other companies that share the site.



6?Cleanup Campaign at Nearby Ocean Beach (SRC, Malaysia)

Participating SRC employees and junior high school students In March 2007, a total of 250 SRC employees and 23 local junior high school students participated in a cleanup campaign at an ocean swimming beach located in Kedah State some 30 km from SRC offices.
The participation of the junior high school students came about as part of an environmental education class which SRC held in September of the previous year.



7?Ongoing Regional Cleanup Activities (SREC, Malaysia)

Participants in the December cleanup campaign SREC has an ongoing program of regional cleanup activities, and held two events in July and December 2006, with the participation of approximately 220 SREC employees, as well as the cooperation of about 30 people from the local area and the municipal government.
SREC plans to keep up these activities, and will be working to boost environmental awareness through cleanup campaigns in public spaces and through reforestation activities.



8?Supporting Victims of the Central Java Earthquake (SEID/SSI, Indonesia)

Presentation ceremony for the donation Left to right: SEID President Okunaka, JJC Executive Director Amaya, and SSI President Tamura Sharp Corporation joined with its local subsidiaries, SEID and SSI, to donate 1 billion rupiah (about 12 million yen) to aid victims of the Central Java Earthquake, which struck Indonesia in May 2006. This monetary donation was funneled through the local Jakarta Japan Club (JJC) and used for reconstruction assistance to the stricken area.



9?Contributing to Society Through Blood Drives (SEID, Indonesia / SRSSC, Malaysia)

Blood donation campaign at SEID (top) and SRSSC In August 2006, SEID sponsored a blood drive in cooperation with the Indonesian Red Cross Society. More than 100 people participated.
In September of the same year, SRSSC hosted a blood drive in cooperation with the University of Malaya Medical Centre. About 70 people participated, including employees and members of the local community, even though it was a holiday.
