The Kameyama Plant Environmentally Conscious
Exchanges with Local Communities

Participation in Community Events

The Mie Plant took part in the Ujisato Festival, which is held annually to commemorate Ujisato Gamo, the founder of the city of Matsusaka. A booth was set up in the shopping district near the train station to introduce festival-goers to environmental protection measures taken at the plant.
The Kameyama Plant participated in an environmental festival held to promote tree conservation in the industrial zone where the plant is located. At that event, Sharp conducted experiments to explain the mechanisms behind solar power.

Communicating with Local Residents about Wastewater Risk

Twice a year, The Fukuyama Plant has carried out joint analyses of plant wastewater with local residents and city officials. Wastewater samples are analyzed separately by Sharp, local resident groups, and the local government. A meeting is then held to share the results and exchange opinions. The results have shown that Sharp is a company in which local residents can place their trust. To gain the understanding of more people, Fukuyama Plant employees headed to local community meetings where they explained wastewater data and environmental activities at the plant.
